C is for Cardin

    Pierre Cardin was born on July 7, 1922 near Venice, Italy.
    When he was 14 he worked as a tailor's assistant.
    In 1945 he moved to Paris where he worked with designers such as Paquin, Schiaparelli and Christian Dior.
    He opened his own design house in 1950 and showed his first collection in 1953.
    In the 1960's Cardin created space age style designs that the likes of are know coming back into vogue.
    Besides designing clothing, accessories, furniture and many other items he also works with UNESCO on various different issues.
